Is Cardio Necessary?

Sort of.

Despite your body type and goals, everyone should do some type of cardio every once in a while. It’s good to spike your heart rate from time to time to help increase your cardiovascular endurance. 

Now if you’re someone who doesn’t do any cardio, doesn’t need or want to burn more calories and just absolutely hates it, then as long as you have days of super high intensity workouts, it’s not the end of the world. For the already lean guys looking to build muscle mass, I get it. However, spiking your heart rate is still very important and healthy for your heart so make sure you’re finding other ways to do this.

On the other hand, if you’re someone looking to lose weight and burn more calories, cardio is a must. Your best bet would probably be to walk on an incline on the treadmill. This will increase your heart rate along with helping you burn the most amount of calories in comparison to the bike, stairs or even the elliptical. 

So is it necessary for EVERYONE to do cardio? Not necessarily, BUT it is necessary for everyone to increase their heart rate at least once/week. So depending on your body type and goals, find what works best for you and stick to it!
