What is the Most Underrated Muscle Group?
What do you think the most underrated muscle group is?
I bet you’re not thinking of this.
Drumroll please…
FOREARMS!
I know right!? Really? Why are forearms so underrated? Here’s why…
Make a fist with your hand. No, seriously do this right now.
Now squeeze your fist as tight as you possibly can. Take a good look at the inside of your forearm. Do you see how once you started squeezing you engaged that muscle?
Now let loose and wiggle your fingers back and forth. While doing this, take a look at the outer part of your forearm towards your elbow. You see all the muscles moving?
Even if you didn’t notice any difference in your forearms in either of these drills, believe me when I tell you, you’re engaging your forearms. The way we move our hands and wrists dictates which muscle we engage in our forearms.
That being said, in almost every single workout you do you’re holding onto something and gripping some sort of bar, handle, ground (push-ups, handstands) etc. You see where I’m going with this?
So if you think about squeezing the bar so tight as if you’re trying to break it, what do you think is going to happen?
You’re going to engage all those little forearm muscles. This is going to help you way more than you think on almost every one of your lifts or bodyweight workouts.
Just by engaging those little muscles you will be able to do more reps especially at the end of your set when you’re getting fatigued or about to fail.
Moral of the story. Think “SQUEEZE” with your hands and that will help activate your forearms and allow those last few reps.
Forearms are MASSIVELY underrated.
