Why You Have to Train Legs- Top 11 Reasons

Let’s be honest. Unless you’re a girl, the majority of us men don’t like training legs, and I can’t blame you.

I didn’t train my legs for almost 2 years! My thought was, adding weight on my lower half will only stall my calisthenics gains, therefore I didn’t want to make them any heavier than they already were. This was a mistake!

There are so many benefits to training legs that you’d be missing out on major gains by not doing them. Here’s the top 10 reasons you should train legs!

  1. Helps lose fat You exert the most amount of force while you perform leg movements. You engage multiple muscles at once, therefore you sweat and burn a lot of calories helping you be in a caloric deficit for the day, allowing you to shed the fat!
  2. Prevents osteoporosis and increases bone density- AKA actually strengthens your bones in your legs.
  3. Increases total Body Strength- Like I said before, while doing legs we engage multiple muscles at once and it increases our testosterone levels making our entire body stronger.
  4. Makes joints stronger- You do NOT want stiff, weak joints when you’re older.
  5. Boosts testosterone levels and growth hormone- The MAIN reason I started doing legs. The increase in hormone levels is crazy. Your boy gained 10lbs just from doing legs consistently.
  6. Strengthens the core- When you do things like squat, deadlift, leg press, and hip thrusts your core must stay tight to perform these movements. Therefore you don’t just strengthen your legs, but your core too!
  7. Improves functional movements- You sit down and get up every day right? You’re gonna want to do that when you’re 70 years old, right? So you better get real comfortable and good at squatting!
  8. Provides better aesthetics and muscular look- Everyone loves a nice looking quad. Guys and Girls.. It’s attractive, enough said..
  9. Shapes the butt- Guys have butts too!
  10. Boosts self-esteem and confidence- No more chicken legs and a nice booty can make anyone confident.
  11. Helps keep the body symmetrical– You wouldn’t just train the right side of your body right? Then why would you only train the top part and not the bottom? Don’t be the stick leg guy. (Trust me, I’ve been there)

If those reasons aren’t enough for you to start smashing leg day, then I don’t know what is. Go to the legs section and start doing legs ASAP!

You Got This!
