Get out of your own head!

Being a personal trainer, I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard people say to me “I can’t do that weight” before even trying!

They completely psyche themselves out…

Working out is a head game. If you think you can’t do it, then you won’t. It’s that simple.

STOP OVERTHINKING!

The gym is meant to get you out of your own head, not overthinking further.

This is something that we all do and is inevitable sometimes. It even happens to me! Sometimes if my first set of the day isn’t great, I get in my head. I’ll say to myself “I guess I don’t have it today” or “todays not my day, might as well start the deload” meanwhile nothing has changed since my last workout and I’m just overthinking.

Other times, it’s the complete opposite. I’ll have a great first set shifting my mindset to “I feel strong today” and then go out and have a great workout.

It’s amazing as to how much our minds affect our body. Our body may be the same as it is any other day, yet you may perform better or worse depending on your mindset.

Moral of the story, stop overthinking. Just because the few sets weren’t as good as usual, doesn’t mean the rest of the workout has to be bad too. Get out of your own head and just do it! At the end of the day even if you do feel weak, who cares. You’re still getting stronger little by little and it’s just one day. Don’t let it drag on to the rest of the week.
