Are you properly warming up?

Are you one of those people who “warm up” but half ass stretching while going through tik tok or Twitter?

OR are you someone who does about 2 minutes of stretching then hops into the workout?

OR are you someone who doesn’t warm up at all?

Now you already know what I’m going to say but WHY are all the above options bad?

Although you may get away with it for a few years when you’re young, this DEFINITELY will not last. Eventually you’ll either get hurt or realize you’re wasting your first few sets of your workout on getting loose. 

Trust me because I learned this the hard way! After about 2 years of consistent and intense training, my joints started to hurt. I was getting minor injuries constantly that would set me back. You can imagine how insanely frustrating this was, therefore it was time for me to make a change.

Now that I take 15 minutes before EVERY workout to properly warm up, I feel 100 times better. And this is no “going through the motions” warm up. It’s all done with intention (just like regular workouts) and I’m truly focused on the static or dynamic movement I’m doing to help me prepare for that day of training. 

Don’t be the past me. Be smart and take care of your body. Remember, if you’re going to do this for life, you’re going to NEED to look at this for the long run. Beating your body up without properly activating the muscles first will make this very difficult!

You only get one body so treat it right!
