Are You Training Specifically For Your Goals?

As a trainer I see so many people walk into the gym aimlessly with no plan. In fact, this is probably most people. I’m happy they can get to the gym at all because right there is one of the hardest parts and you are already winning if you can just get there. However, if you’re not actively working towards a goal by doing the proper workouts, then you’re pretty much wasting your time.

Before you even get to the gym you have to have a good idea of what your goals are. What are you trying to accomplish in the gym? Do you want to lose weight? Gain muscle mass? Bench, squat, deadlift a certain weight? Learn to handstand? What’s the ideal goal?

Once you figure that out, that’s going to drastically change what a day in the gym looks like for you! This is why programs you buy randomly online aren’t the best. You want something specific and personalized to your goals.

For example if you’re trying to gain muscle mass I’m not gonna tell you to do 45 minutes of cardio every day. Or if you want to learn to handstand, then you’re going to have to put way more time and effort into practicing handstand drills than going on machines and doing reps and sets.

By knowing what you want to get out of the gym, it’ll be way easier to have a plan going into the gym. If you don’t know how to execute your goals, talk to someone who has had similar goals to you and has succeeded. Or talk to a good personal trainer (yes, there are bad ones out there). Or better yet, talk to me! I’d be happy to help you get to where you want to be whether it’s a quick conversation or 1 on 1 online coaching.
